We use “going + infinitive” to talk about the future.
We worked on making sentences in the previous lesson, and in this lesson, we will practice making yes/no questions.
Here is the pattern to make this kind of question.
Be verb + subject + going + infinitive…?
- Are you going to come to the party?
- Is he going to quit his job?
- Are they going to be late?
- Is she going to care if I don’t come?
- Are Mark and Tim going to help us?
Like other yes/no questions, there are long and short answers.
Are you going to play?
- Yes, I am going to play.
- Yes, I am.
- Yes.
Is he going to be there?
- No, he isn’t going to be there.
- No, he isn’t.
- No.
It is also possible to use other future tense sentences when you answer.
Is she going to come?
- Yes, she will come.
- No, she won’t come.
- She might come.
- Yes, she is coming.

A) A month is a long time. Are you going to be okay?
B) I’ll be fine. Thanks.
